Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Whether you are single, in a relationship, married, or wherever today finds you, I want to share some encouragement for today.

Wherever you are in life you can know for sure one thing. That there is a God who created you, knew you before your were ever born, and loves you!

As a single gal who is coming up on being 30 this year it’s a weird time for me. In many ways I feel incredibly young and very content with being single, but in other ways and at other times I feel so old and will find myself wondering when and if I’ll ever have the opportunity to be a wife. I get if this day is complicated for you!

Earlier this week I was having a conversation with a friend who stated she hated Valentine’s Day. It was fun in elementary school, but after that, it was a reminder that she didn’t have someone special in her life. I get that. And that is hard. I have had a couple of Valentine’s Days that shared that sentiment. But most of them I loved…especially recently.

Where is your focus today?

I love today because my focus or my perspective isn’t focused on all the couples around me or the lack of that in my personal life. My focus is on God’s love for me. His love that so radically changed my life and eternally loves me with a fierceness no guy could ever come close to. His love that kept pursuing me even when I was an angry broken girl who yelled hateful words at Him. His love that has wrapped me in peace as I sobbed nights away. His love that pulled me out of darkness and hopelessness and gave me joy and hope. That is a love that is better than flowers, or chocolate, or cute stuffed animals. It is a love that never fades, never wavers, never stops.

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”

1 John 3:1

Take this day to reflect on that love! Take time to show love to those around you, and appreciate those who love you. Go buy a box of chocolates for yourself if you find yourself single today. You can also join me in buying flowers for yourself too, because heck winter needs to be done and I’m ready for flowers…and I love flowers! So go buy yourself something. And don’t do it at out of pity or woe as me. Buy them with confidence knowing that your love is secure in the everlasting arms of Christ! Then go spend some special time with God. Sing worship songs, dig into some scripture that speaks of His crazy love for you, and talk things out with Him. And if your heart is struggling today whether you’re single or not for whatever reason. Talk that out with Him. He wants to hear it. He cares for you! He loves you!
